Expect good music, wine and food at Hope St Radio's new home.Tom BlachfordAfter years spent broadcasting from venues all over Melbourne, including at Rooftop Bar,Lazerpig and the Coburg Night Market, internet radio station Hope St Radio finally has a permanent home at the budding Collingwood Yards arts precinct, once Collingwood Technical School.
The station's founder,Pete Baxter, has collaborated with friend and hospo-pro Jack Shaw on the venture,a kitchen and wine bar serving"the food we like to eat and the wine we like to drink",says Shaw.
This means wines with a natural,minimal-intervention bent sourced from importers such as Campbell Burton and Vivant Living Wines, plus beers from local breweryStomping Ground.
Jack Shaw and Pete Baxter at Hope St Radio.Tom Blachford Ellie Bouhadana (of pop-up trattoria Ellie's Table) has built a menu around fresh pasta, with options such as cavatelli with red onion and butter beans, and pappardelle with rabbit and nettle.
Raw seafood also features heavily – think dressed crudo and freshly shucked oysters.
Dessert may be a slice of Basque cheesecake,or a scoop of Fernet and cola ice-cream made by Thornbury'sKenny Lover.

Designed by Peter Frederick Cole Architect, the large, bright space is decked out with timber booths and classroom furniture and features a collaborative mural by Alice McIntosh and Cole.
Pride of place is a custom-made sound system designed by Hot Wax Sound Systems, which will be used to broadcast Hope St Radio's eclectic and varied shows through the wine bar and out into the ether.
As atWaxflower,a"listening bar"in Brunswick,Shaw says people can come and listen to great music and have fun,"but at the same time can be drinking these incredible wines, and we think there's a really nice intersection there that we haven't witnessed too much before".
