Bar Nacional is stage 1 in a plan to plant a bunch of distinguished cafes and restaurants in the Docklands’ hitherto infertile soil. Terrazzo floors,wine racks,leather armchairs and big windows create a warm,inviting mood – and that’s before you’ve even glanced at the list of charcuterie,tapas and raciones. It’s hitting the spot with workers from the surrounding cube farms,who swing by for a bocadillo (sandwich) and coffee or settle in for tapas such as soft-centred brussels sprouts croquettes,stonkingly rich morcilla (blood sausage),moreish spiced nuts and house-made sangria after work.
