Glimpses of sapphire ocean through palm and banksia trees. Blue-and-white wicker chairs. Vintage-coastal oil paintings. Oysters. Champagne. Now,this is destination dining.

After nine years of shucking, fermenting and coal-roasting at boutique hotel Halcyon House,Paper Daisy is still one of the Northern Rivers’ best restaurants,a place where you’re in the hands of a hospitality team that really cares.

The two-course a la carte menu changes with the seasons, but there’s almost always a cracking crudo, such as yellowfin tuna with a savoury kick of white soy and sharpness from calamansi. Meaty tempura-style soft-shell Moreton Bay bug is dolled up with finger lime and a bright tomatillo sauce, and golden-skinned grilled grouper is great mates with fat peas, watermelon radish and brown-rice-vinegar butter.
