Boathouse Group’s Rose Bay Marina site has been in a state of flux over the past year. First there was a name change to Rose Bay House and a new menu influenced by Turkey;now the carte is back to more standard-issue coastal Australian and Mediterranean.
Seafood with super yacht views is still the main game,as signified by the grotto-fabulous decor with shell-encrusted mirrors borrowed from the Little Mermaid’s boudoir, but now you can also tear off hunks of pita to dunk in labne topped with sweet roasted peppers,or stack up little plates of hummus, taramasalata and cured salmon pastirma.
Pan-fried snapper comes with crushed potatoes and caper butter, and chicken cotoletta with fennel-seed aioli satisfies anyone just after schnitzel with a liberal squeeze of lemon. For maximum marina vibes, request a table on the terrace and the seafood platter, loaded with oysters, squid, thick prawns and battered barramundi.
