After years of supplying baked goods to Maker Coffee across its five outposts,Maker owners John and Stephanie Vroom have found a bricks-and-mortar home for their wholesale label,Baker of Things, inside an industrial warehouse-style shopfront on Burnley Street.

Headed by ex-Beatrix staffer Zoe Pearce, the Richmond bakery is serving fresh-baked sourdough loaves and baguettes from Wednesday through to Sunday, plus an assortment of pastries, cakes, sandwiches and other specialty snacks.

Popular items include the moreish olive, chilli and anchovy baguette twist,or the zesty citrus layer cake made by rolling cake sponge like a Swiss roll with layers of lemon, lime and orange zest atop a fine layer of lemon curd. The ring-shaped,traditional Greek koulouri baguette is also worth a try (and great for sharing).

Be sure to arrive early to get your hands on a coveted sourdough Neighbourhood Loaf or smaller-sized Loaf For You (they’re often sold out by mid-morning). Maker coffee is on the menu, too, naturally.
