Since then, the 22-year-old has missed just one game out of a possible 100 and will line up on Sunday against the Brisbane Lions in his milestone match - less than five years after being drafted from Glenelg.
Before the Blues made Gibbs their top priority in the'06 draft,he was dominating as a teenager in the SANFL - playing against men and going on to finish third that season in Glenelg's best-and-fairest voting.
Carlton president, premiership player and former captain Stephen Kernahan played with Gibbs's father at Glenelg and looked suitably chuffed handing over his old No.4 guernsey to his mate's son in early 2007.
Gibbs was the second of three No.1 draft picks that Carlton snared in a row (Marc Murphy came via the'05 draft and Matthew Kreuzer in'07) and is central to the club's longer-term goals.
