Curnow went to hospital after the Richmond game for assessment after being struck in the throat.
He missed last week against Adelaide but doctors were initially reluctant to put a time frame on his return as they monitored his progress.
He was not allowed to train so as not to aggravate the inflammation around the wind pipe and vocal chords. He was told to minimise talking – something that pleased his teammates.
The medical advice this week was that he could return to some training but still needed to limit his talking and have his condition monitored.
