Forsyth also co-founded the Bluebag chain of cafes in Melbourne and he says this experience provided the inspiration for both Keep Cup and Returnr.
"Having owned a food business and worked in it there are some real challenges,"he says."Nobody wants to keep buying plastic containers and filling them with food and throwing them out but consumers do demand that and the solutions are tricky. With Returnr I am trying to slot a neat little hole that is sustainable for the cafe and environmentally friendly."
The Returnr metal bowls are made using mainly recycled content and Forsyth expects them to have more than 10,000 uses before potentially being recycled back into another bowl.
Forsyth started a trial of Returnr in September last year and he estimates he's spent around $100,000 starting the business which is now used by 10 outlets around Melbourne.
While Forsyth is no longer involved in KeepCup or Blue Bag,Son Monah,Blue Bag's new owner,is offering Returnr to her customers.
