The Blues set a new record membership figure this week when they exceeded their previous record of 56,005 members and earned $61 million revenue in 2018.

Carlton's average crowd for home games was 31,775 in 2018 as they won just two games for the season however they averaged more than 50,000 per home game as recently as 2011.

The Blues have already received a $35 million funding commitment from Federal and State Governments to make Ikon Park a hub for AFLW and they are preparing a fundraising program to improve the facilities at the ground for the AFL team.

Meanwhile,Carlton will not replace long-term injured skipper Sam Docherty or forward Jarrod Pickett as the rules allow and will hold two vacancies on the list until the mid-season draft.

The Blues have the ability to add two players to their list by Friday,with Docherty and Pickett both recovering from long-term knee injuries,under the new rules that have seen the Giants add Shane Mumford after the draft and St Kilda pick up ex-Magpie Jon Marsh.

The Blues have confirmed they intend to use one pick - and possibly two - at the new mid-season draft.

The club said they would wait and see how Docherty progressed during the season before making the call on whether he would be replaced in mid-season with a draftee.

If he and Pickett are placed on the long-term injury list,the Blues can replace them with draftees,but there would have to be another player injured if Docherty or Pickett returned late in the season.

The Blues have already added two players via this new rule,with Michael Gibbons and Matthew Cottrell signing on as supplementary recruits.

They are all but certain to use at least one pick in the mid-season draft,which would give them access to a potentially very good player overlooked in the 2018 draft - the likes of Isaac Smith and Tim Kelly would have been available in the past had the rule existed.
