However, last week an appeal against the zipline was lodged in Brisbane's Planning and Environment Court by the Mt Coot-tha Protection Alliance,a community group opposed to the project.
A Department of Natural Resources,Mines and Energy spokeswoman confirmed the department would wait to see the final result of the court appeal before making a decision on the land management plan.
"It is not appropriate for the Department to make a decision on Brisbane City Council’s (BCC) Mt Coot-tha Land Management Plan until the appeal process currently with the Queensland Planning and Environment Court is determined,as the full scope of the development and proposed use of the land must be final,"the spokeswoman said.
The land management plan details for the state government how the land will be used — council acts as a trustee of Mt Coot-tha as state land set aside for a public park, and has argued the development of the zipline is not privatisation.

A spokeswoman for the council said council was notified of the department's decision.
"Council was advised in a letter from the State Government, dated March 20,that the Department of Natural Resources,Mines and Energy would not be considering the Land Management Plan for the Mount Coot-tha Zipline until the recently lodged appeal was finalised,"she said.
