"This is a crucial moment for anyone concerned about the future of the mountain to call or email the Lord Mayor and ask him to scrap the zipline,"Mr Berkman said on Monday.
Mr Berkman's office was copied into about 40 messages sent to Cr Schrinner's office by midday Tuesday, with many more community members commenting on social media that they had also contacted the lord mayor's office.
Cr Schrinner said he would receive briefings from the chief executive officer on the zipline on Tuesday afternoon and would keep the community updated.
He confirmed his office had seen an increase in the number of messages about the zipline.
"Definitely there have been people getting in contact, and I appreciate that and I respect that,"Cr Schrinner said.
"This community is something for all of us to enjoy,Mt Coot-tha is something for all of us to enjoy, and we want to make sure it's protected and it's a great asset for the city.
"That's my priority going forward."
