On the last day of the AFLW trade and signing period, the Blues announced that they will receive the Magpies’ picks 2,12,22,and 30,in exchange for Davey. The Blues will also send two late picks back to Collingwood.
Davey was Carlton's inaugural captain and one of the side's two inaugural marquee players alongside Darcy Vescio. She earned selection in the 2017 All-Australian team.
The 24-year-old played 16 games over three seasons, cumulating in a standout finals performance in this year's finals against Adelaide when she gathered 22 disposals and kicked one goal.
“I can’t thank Carlton enough for giving me my first opportunity in AFLW colours. The club has such a genuine approach to women’s football and I wouldn’t be playing at the standard I am today without their support,” Davey said on Friday.
“Looking forward,I’m thrilled to be pulling on the black and white and really keen to start to get to know the girls and add to what is an exciting future at the Holden Centre.”
Davey is understood to have shocked the Blues when she made clear her intentions to move to Collingwood not long after the end of the season.
She had been courted by the Pies last year, before Blues coach Daniel Harfold convinced her to stay.
Harfold said that going foward, loyalty was paramount for the Blues.
