Amid widespread backlash and a drawn-out tussle with Rugby Australia over the post,Folau was reportedly ready to take down the post in a bid to hold onto his contract before he phoned his father Eni Folau,a Christian pastor.

Eni Folau reportedly said his son would be disowning the words of God if he removed the post, which referenced a Bible passage that warned"drunks, homosexuals, adulterers, liars, fornicators, thieves, atheists, idolaters"would go to hell unless they repented.

"You'll go to hell, son,"Eni said to his son, according to a News Corp Australia report on Sunday.

Folau refused to take down the post, prompting Rugby Australia to terminate his $4 million contract after claiming the post did not align with the organisation's values.

Days earlier,RA chief executive Raelene Castle had warned Folau the club had no choice but to end his contract as the post was seen as a high-level breach.

However,if he took down the post the breach would be seen as mid-level and his contract could be saved. He phoned his father on April 14,a Sunday night, according to News Corp.

Speaking to theHerald after attending church that day,Folau had said he was prepared to stop playing rugby if that was what God wanted for him.

"It's obviously a decision that's in the process right now but I believe in a God that's in control of all things,"Folau said.

"Whatever His will is,whether that's to continue playing or not,I'm more than happy to do what He wants me to do."

He said he would"absolutely"be content to walk away from rugby.

"In saying that, obviously I love playing footy and if it goes down that path I'll definitely miss it. But my faith in Jesus Christ is what comes first."

Folau has since tapped one of Australia's leading workplace relations lawyers,Stuart Wood QC, for advice as he considers taking legal action against Rugby Australia alleging a breach of contract.
