Ms Kelsey was appointed as CEO of Logan City Council in June 2017 and her contract was set to expire in June 2021. It contained a six-month probation period.
In October 2017,she went to the Crime and Corruption Commission alleging possible misconduct by mayor Luke Smith.

The council was warned not to sack her on the basis of her complaints,but in February 2018 they voted to fire her.
Three weeks laterLocal Government Minister Stirling Hinchliffe ordered an investigation into Ms Kelsey's sacking and criminal charges were laid.
The Logan City Councilwas suspended,then sacked en masse.
Lawyers for the group asked for proceedings in the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission to be delayed while they faced criminal charges,fearing the publicity could hinder their right to a fair trial.
