Mr Coffey said he saw no police at Defqon.1's European namesake, where 150,000 patrons attended last month and which saw no fatalities.
He compared that to the Sydney event, where there was a"high profile"police presence and there were fatalities.
"I’ve put on these events in western Sydney for 20 years and I’ve seen the results of the current system we have, and I’ve been going to Holland for the last 12 years … and you could pretty much guarantee that no one will die at a music event,"Mr Coffey said.
"Whereas, over the summer in NSW it's been terrible."
Joseph Pham,23,and Diana Nguyen,21,both died after consuming MDMA at Defqon on September 15 last year. Their deaths are among six fatalities at NSW music festivals that are now being examined by a coronial inquest.
The circumstances surrounding the deaths of Alex Ross-King,19,Joshua Tam,22,Callum Brosnan,19,and Nathan Tran,18,are also being scrutinised.
