North Melbourne caretaker coach Rhyce Shaw has landed the club's senior job and has earned a three-year contract.
The Kangaroos have unveiled the man to officially replace former coach Brad Scott, who parted ways with North Melbourne on good terms mid-season.
Shaw signed his multi-year deal on Wednesday.
Rhyce,a former Collingwood and Sydney player and a long-time AFL assistant coach, has been guiding the Kangaroos since round 12.
Shaw,37,has impressed during his tenure as caretaker coach, winning four matches from eight games to keep the Roos in contention to secure an unexpected finals spot.
He said he hadn't seriously considered the prospect of becoming senior coach until recently.
"I didn’t really think about it too much until probably the last four or five weeks where it suddenly became an option,"Shaw said.
"So that first month I was really just worried about how the players were going, how the club was going, making sure that we could go forward in the best possible way."
He admits his ascension had arrived earlier than he had anticipated.
