Virgin chief executive Paul Scurrah,who started in the job in March,said on Wednesday the network moves reflected the company putting"a far greater emphasis on profit".
“We’re committed to every route that we fly,as long as we can see a profitable outcome,"Mr Scurrah said following Virgin's annual general meeting in Brisbane.

Virgin ran at a$315 million loss last year - its seventh consecutive year of operating in the red.
The airline has lost a combined $1.9 billion over those seven years,as it battled for market share against Qantas and tried to poach the rival airline's corporate customers.
Virgin is launching some new international routes. It is set to start flying to Japan for the first time when it launches a new Brisbane-Tokyo service inMarch next year, and announced on Wednesday that it will launch Melbourne-Bali flights in the same month.
