"I reckon he will stay,hopefully,"Jones said.

Not that he will concern himself too much with that question as he looks to win the respect of his new teammates by working hard.

"Hopefully put on a bit of size,I'm a bit skinny at the moment,and gain the respect of the players,meet new people and work hard. That is the main thing,"Jones said.

"It's just hard work,determination and resilience,get up and going again and push myself to the limits."

Essendon had to give up pick 35 and a future second round to get a pick high enough to land Jones but now they have a passionate Essendon fan who prefers to play forward.

The Bombers met with Jones a couple of weeks ago however he was given no indication of their plans,so he was not only relieved but excited to be at the club he has barracked for all his life and that his dad,Craig,played a few games for in under-19s.

"I go to most of the games. I do enjoy watching the Bombers play,"Jones said.

He has enjoyed watching Daniher and hopes he might be able to attack games in a similar fashion although he won't be complaining if Essendon want to start him back.

"Hopefully I play forward but it doesn't really bother me. I like playing both ends of the field...wherever I fit I guess,"Jones said.

He looked like he had worn an Essendon polo all his life,a neat fit for a club looking to win a final sometime soon.

Essendon then made a bid on the Lions'academy selection Keidean Coleman before using their pick 37 on the second most promising developing ruckman in the draft,Nick Bryan.

With Tom Bellchambers in the twilight of his career and Andrew Phillips arriving from Carlton seeking opportunity,Bryan will have chances in the next few seasons to make a name for himself with the Bombers.
