The'unity beam'will sit atop the Sydney Harbour Bridge and will be"the brightest beam in the southern hemisphere",lighting designer Ziggy Ziegler said.
"The diamond sparkle of beams will come together representing the people of Australia and the world coming together as one,"he said.
Fireworks director Fortunato Foti,who has worked on every New Year's Eve since 1997,said the audience would be treated to a"pyro-technicolour extravaganza with more than 100,000 pyrotechnic effects".
"Fireworks is about bringing communities together,not only from Sydney,from rural areas,from interstate and overseas – it's about bringing a bit of happiness to people,"he said.
Central Metropolitan Region commander Assistant Commissioner Michael Willing urged the public to remain vigilant and report anything out of place in light of theterror attack in London this week.
“With recent events that we’ve seen in the last few days in London,the threat of terrorism does remain,"he said."However,we have no information at all that suggests a threat to this year’s celebrations.
"I do ask that people remain vigilant and if you see something that looks out of place,please say something."
Weather and fire conditions could dampen the night,but Ms Moore said organisers would continue monitoring conditions.
"We will do what we consider to be the best thing to do at the time,but we think it is important to bring people together."
