Storm warnings were in place for almost the entire state on Thursday evening, after a steady dose of rain across most of New South Wales.
"Overnight and into[Friday] we're looking at storms through Sydney, but we may see showers and the odd thunderstorm lingering,"said Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Gabrielle Woodhouse.
"It's not out of the question that we could see a burst of heavy rain, but that's more likely in the north of the state."
Forty five millimetres of rain fell at Faulconbridge near the Blue Mountains on Thursday, with places in the north-east,mid-north coast, and northern tablelands exceeding 80 millimetres.

"Storms are still going,so those totals will increase further - there's a storm warning right now for most of the state, and that's mainly for the rain but also for wind and hail,"Ms Woodhouse said.
A wind gust of 93 km/h was recorded at Parkes Airport at 4.26pm. The risk of hail is through the southern part of the state and the far west of the state.
