Despite now having the luxury of a blank schedule,Australia coach Graham Arnold has decided against holding a training camp or playing friendlies later this month to minimise the risk of coronavirus among his players, staff and overseas clubs.
FFA sources have suggested the national team could instead hold a 10-day camp in South America to prepare for the 2020 Copa America.
The AFC's decision to postpone qualifiers is set to deliver a significant boost for the Socceroos'prospects at the tournament, affording them significantly more preparation.
Australia's first game of the Copa America is on June 13 in Cordoba,Argentina, and already FFA are working on arranging a friendly match against a South American opponent as a warm-up.
If there's a silver lining to the postponement of the qualifiers,it could be seen in the availability of Australia's best players for the Copa America.
Overseas clubs are not obliged to release players for the tournament but FFA sources believe they have a better chance of negotiating player availability now clubs won't have to release players in March.
Top of Group B following four consecutive victories,Graham Arnold's men were to face Kuwait in Perth on March 6,before travelling to take on Nepal on March 31.
