The team that the Tigers defeated in the 2019 grand final,GWS,also confirmed that they had closed off access to non-essential visitors – such as schoolkids – for the next couple of weeks, after which the club would reassess the situation.
Richmond, like the Giants, have a relatively high volume of visitors, with an Indigenous learning centre at Punt Rd and a large array of community activities that routinely bring groups and individuals to the club.
Richmond felt that it was easier to close off the visitors, rather than quiz individuals on their recent travels overseas.
There is no time frame for the Tigers'visiting restrictions, which would depend on what health authorities say about the risks of the virus.
The Tigers,as with many organisations, are also taking more basic precautions to minimise risks of infection, such as a greater awareness of hygiene.
GWS said they would have no tours of the football department during the next couple of weeks.
