The Welshman has not been shy in making his views known on the challenges that lay ahead for the Australian game since taking over arguably the most important job in the sport. In August,he warned of an "imminent danger" and likely failure to qualify for future World Cups if important junior development reforms weren't made.
Sources close to FFA suggest Sherman had been frustrated at an inability to enact change in the Australian game and that the advice of football experts was repeatedly being ignored.
