Foord only made her debut for Arsenal last month after a high-profile transfer from W-League champions Sydney FC. The FA Women's Super League team's Australian coach,Joe Montemurro, has also returned home for unspecified "family reasons",the club said.

Arsenal's men's team has also faced coronavirus-related disruptions, with their Premier League match against Manchester City cancelled because some of their players had come into contact with Olympiakos owner Evangelos Marinakis - who has since tested positive for COVID-19 - before their Europa League tie a fortnight ago. Several players are reportedly in isolation.

No other Matildas players will be subject to the same conditions,Milicic said, despite the fact that Sam Kerr (Chelsea),Hayley Raso (Everton) and Chloe Logarzo (Bristol City) have travelled on the same routes and are also returning to English clubs.

"At this stage it's just Caitlin. As you'll appreciate, the situation is changing, you could say daily,"Milicic said.

Milicic's ability to plan ahead for the weeks and months leading up to the Olympics have also been hampered by the virus.

Australia is due to play friendlies against the United States in Utah on April 10,then Canada in Vancouver on 14. Those games are now in doubt, with the US announcing a 30-day ban on travel from Europe (excluding the United Kingdom) and the NBA season suspended after a Utah Jazz player tested positive for coronavirus.

"There are genuine concerns,"Milicic said."Yes,of course we'd love for these two games to go ahead now in April because they're tier one opposition and that will be a great test for us.

"[That's] out of our hands, they're up to the professionals to guide us and they've done exceptionally well so far,the way FFA have been transparent with us and organised everything and always had the players and staff's safety first and foremost.

"To be honest we have started speaking about some other plans but there look to be roadblocks there as well,so we can only do what's possible.
