The public health emergency was due to expire on August 17,but that date can be extended.
Four of the six Queenslanders who have died after contracting novel coronavirus were cruise ship passengers.
Three of those deaths were linked to the infamous Ruby Princess cruise shipthat was allowed to dock in Sydney.
Cruise lines have begun selling itineraries departing Brisbane from September and the city's new multimillion-dollar cruise terminal is set to be completed next month.
The terminal is prepared to accept its first ship, the Carnival-owned Pacific Dawn,at 6am on October 3 at Luggage Point.
