Clarkson said it was too risky to play the 37-year-old Burgoyne given they had a hectic travel schedule leading into their loss against GWS on Sunday followed by a short break into Friday's clash with the Magpies.
"We're not going to play Shaun Burgoyne this week,"he said."Off a five-day break we don't think it's a wise decision to have him back up in that period of time.

Clarkson said Jack Scrimshaw (ankle) could be out from anywhere for three to five weeks depending on how it"settled",while more information was needed about Mitch Lewis (hamstring) to know how long he might be out for.
Lewis would definitely miss this week though, meaning Patton – who burnt his foot cooking fish at home – will play. Liam Shiels is also OK to play.
"He[Patton] is a natural replacement for Mitch Lewis,"Clarkson said."He was available to play alst week but his preparation hadn't been ideal.
"He'll come into the side this week and hopefully give us a focal point."
