The four-year-old finished just behind the placed horses in his last run at Haydock in the Old Newton Cup,a race that is often a good guide to the European stayers coming to Melbourne,and first up this season had been fourth at Royal Ascot in a competitive 2400-metre handicap.

"His last two runs have been on heavy ground. He gets through it,he just doesn't love it and let down fully so to do what he did was excellent. To run fourth in that sort of quality field was a terrific run. He's just a fighter,"Kheir said.
"They are good quality handicaps and those runs showed us that he stays. If we can get him to qualify he will be right in the mix for a Caulfield Cup or a Melbourne Cup.
"He's very good over 2000 metres and the jockey[Tom Marquand,who made a big impression in Sydney during the English off-season] has no question that he will stay even further.
"He definitely comes out,and another horse called Plumatic,from France,he also comes."
