Hardwick claimed that the Swans had played extra numbers behind the ball with Longmire hitting back on Monday saying Hardwick's comments were not only wrong but inappropriate and unwarranted.
"It was a shocker on my behalf,"Hardwick said.
"I was out of line and I was probably frustrated and let the situation get the better of me. I rang Horse (John Longmire) and apologised ... lesson learned on my behalf and we move on,"he said.
Hardwick said the fact the Tigers were in control of the game and leading the Swans meant they had no incentive to change tactics, however they had spent this week working on improving the connection between their midfielders and forwards.
The Tigers have scored fewer than 40 points in three of their five games since the season resumed while the Swans have not scored more than 43 in their past three matches.
Hardwick said injured Tigers Dion Prestia and Toby Nankervis would travel to the quarantine hub on Friday but Bachar Houli and Shane Edwards would remain in Melbourne, while he ruled out skipper Trent Cotchin and defender David Astbury for another week.
