A NSW Health spokesperson said the source of the new infection remained under investigation.
Queensland Health Minister Yvette D’Ath said she had been on the phone to her NSW counterpart on Thursday morning.
"This is their first community case in 26 days,"she told Queensland Parliament.
"At this point, there are no proposed changes to any of the restrictions in Queensland.
"We are aware that[the tests for] five immediate family members of the person who tested positive have all come back negative and they are now in quarantine.
"That is a good,positive sign,going forward."
