END OF AN ERA
McGuire announces in December 2020 he will step down as president at the end of the 2021 season. However, there are fresh calls for McGuire to resign less than two months later following the February 1 release of an independent report that finds a culture of “systemic racism” at the club. McGuire initially responds to the release of the report, describing it as a “historic and proud day” for the club before later admitting his opening statement at a press conference was a poor choice of words. He initially insists he won’t resign but stands down effective immediately on February 9.
