NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian also weighed in on the issue on Thursday, saying that she hoped Cricket Australia reconsiders the move to scrap the references to Australia Day from promotions for Big Bash League fixtures.
Ms Berejiklian told 2GB radio the national sporting body was a"professional outfit"and she didn't think it was too late for it to reverse its stance.
"I hope they do change their mind,I mean, you can't imagine Australia Day or summer without the cricket. Cricket in Australia, they kind of go hand in hand,"she said.
"They're a professional outfit,an extremely well run organisation and I would hope they'd reconsider that,on behalf of the nation"
Morrison was equally unimpressed with the NRL when they toyed with the idea of scrappingAdvance Australia Fair before last year's State of Origin series, only to backflip on the idea in a matter of hours.
The move to drop"Australia Day"ahead of the three BBL games was a recommendation made by CA's First Nation's Advisory Committee, which is co-chaired by former international Jones.
The conversation was purely about,'how do we help this day be as safe and respectful for everyone involved in cricket'.
Mel Jones
Jones, who moved to Australia when she was just three months old, expected plenty of backlash and debate once the recommendation became front-page news.
She quipped she had already received"lovely pieces of advice"from people on social media who suggested she should''hang her head in shame''and was being"un-Australian".
"I've seen the Prime Minister's comments about it being'ordinary',but this was never about politics for us,it's purely about cricket,''Jones told theHerald on Thursday.
"There was no politics in regards to changing the date or anything along those lines. The conversation was purely about,'how do we help this day be as safe and respectful for everyone involved in cricket'.
"A lot of the members said,'it's the most unsafe day of the year they feel as an Indigenous person',yet they love cricket,so they still want it to be played because there's a wonderful opportunity for us to hear our Indigenous voices and hear all the wonderful stories come through.
"Those who are making their voices heard that we're'anti'[Australia Day] and we shouldn't be doing this ... we're not wanting to take away from people's celebrations of the day, that's why there are still three Big Bash games on,and we want to add value to the day when everyone has an opportunity to have some fun.
"But when we're having this fun we want to be respectful of it,that's all."

The Sydney Thunder, who have dropped the word Australia Day in recent years, the Perth Scorchers and Melbourne Renegades will all wear their special strips in matches on Saturday,Monday and Tuesday.
Sydney Sixers boss Jodie Hawkins, whose table-topping franchise play on January 26,said she was keen to hear from her Indigenous players Dan Christian and Ash Gardner, but her"gut feel"was they were in support of the recommendation.
"It's not like we're calling it anything particularly inflammatory, but by referring to it by the date is a very modest step towards reconciliation, but an important one - even if the smallest gesture can help drive change we need to consider it,"Hawkins said.
