Queensland’s border will open to all of NSW from Monday.
The decision means travellers from Greater Sydney,Wollongong, the Central Coast and Blue Mountains regions no longer need to quarantine upon arrival in Queensland.
Up until Wednesday night,NSW contact tracers were still racing to link six mystery infections before Queensland’s border restrictions were reviewed.
“If anyone down there in NSW or Victoria[is] thinking about having a holiday, come up to Cairns,” Ms Palaszczuk toldTodayafter the early morning call.
“It has been a really long haul and it’s been tough on everybody but I’ve always maintained I’ve got to keep Queenslanders safe.
“It’s a great time for families to be reunited but also for people to plan their holidays.”
Ms Palaszczuk said the reopening date was set for Monday to allow agencies time to prepare.
“We have to take down those borders so once again they will be removed and fingers crossed Australia’s on the path to a much better future in terms of being able to travel,” she toldSunrise.
