“Losing a big identity like Ed is not without its trauma,we are going through a process of resetting and settling off the back of that.”
Meanwhile,a long-standing Collingwood member will press on with collecting signatures fora potential board spill, but cannot do so inside the MCG on Sunday as planned.
David Hatley met Collingwood president Mark Korda late on Friday to outline his wish for a spill of Korda’s board, either by an extraordinary general meeting,or the board taking that step voluntarily.
He said he and his fellow supporters would go ahead with collecting the required signatures before determining their next step. But Hatley and two fellow members learned at the one-hour meeting with Korda that the Melbourne Cricket Club would not permit them to collect signatures inside the MCG on Sunday.
“We’ll make a decision about what we want to proceed with in an EGM,” said Hatley, who said they would keep talking to the club board. “We’ll continue to keep them informed with what we’re doing as well.″
Korda wants the board to continue in its present form, but Hatley indicated toThe Age that he was open to a compromise. “That’s going to be the next discussion point,” he said.
“For both parties,we’re looking for the best outcome.″
