Brisbane City Council has confirmed it plans to extend the Brisbane Metro bus network to the airport.
In September 2019,council announced it planned to extend the Brisbane Metro network from Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital along the Airport Link tunnel and Airport Driveto the airport.
Brisbane Airport will receive double the number of flights and passengers by 2040,up from 23.4 million in 2018 to 50 million,when the new $1.1 billion parallel runway is working at full capacity.
Both Brisbane Airport head of planning Michael Jarvis and lord mayor Adrian Schrinner want improvements between the airport and the city as Brisbane bids for the 2032 Olympics.

The push comes as the RACQ reports the Queensland government needs to prioritise public transport projects to reduce road congestion,with drivers forced to travel as slow as 27km/h in peak traffic on some motorways across Brisbane.
The number of jobs in the airport precinct is forecast to rise from 24,000 to 46,000 by 2040.
