Belief within the group is strong following the victory over the Argentinians,a nation with a storied history in Olympic football.
“Our preparation, having three weeks together here, has been vital. We have created a good atmosphere with the boys andArnie needed that time to create that belief and that family environment,” says the striker.
“Now we feel like we are brothers,we feel like we can take on the world.
“That’s the mentality and belief we have, and we don’t care what (those) outside think or say about our group or who we are coming up against. We believe we can take on anyone and get the result.”
Sitting atop the group,Australia take on Spain on Sunday night knowing that with a match to come against Egypt (who ground out a 0-0 stalemate against the fancied Spaniards in their opening game) even a draw against the European powerhouse will put them in a very strong position to progress to the next phase.
Spain were left flat by their scoreless draw with Egypt. That result means the pressure is on them to get all three points on Sunday lest they have to face Argentina in the last game knowing they have to win.
