PREBBLE,a former Victorian champion rider who has grafted hard to re-establish himself after returning from years in Hong Kong, has come in for the ride on the pre-race favourite Behemoth for South Australian trainer David Jolly. The powerful five-year-old,who took out this contest last year, was due to be ridden by Kah.
MEECH,who has made a return to the saddle after a long absence having had a baby, will get a great chance to land a group 1 aboard another SA raider Beau Rossa.
The four-year-old,who beat Behemoth when the pair clashed in Adelaide recently only to lose the race in the stewards room,is stepping up in grade but trainer Will Clarken has had plenty of success when he has brought horses to Melbourne before and believes the son of Unencumbered has what it takes to compete at the highest level.

IT’S promising to be a big spring all round for Prebble as another rider’s misfortune - this time Glen Boss - means the former Melbourne Cup winning jockey will get the chance to land his second Cup aboard the Peter Moody trained pre-post favourite Incentivise, the former Queensland galloper.
Boss has been forced to return to Sydney from a quarantine centre in the Northern Territory and abandon plans to base himself in Melbourne for the spring - where he was due to partner Incentivise.
THE SUSPENSIONS of the “foolhardy foursome” (Ethan Brown and Celine Gaudray have also been outed alongside the better known pair) have overshadowed the Group 1 meeting.
