Local authorities expect the case numbers to rise in Shepparton as some people wait more than two days from the onset of symptoms before coming forward for testing.
The coronavirus treatment sotrovimab received provisional approval from the Therapeutic Goods Administration earlier this month.
Goulburn Valley Health chief executive Matt Sharp confirmed his health service had been granted access to the drug but had not yet given it to any patients.
“We’re able to administer sotrovimab. We’ve got the procedure and processes in place. We’ve got staff who are trained and ready to administer it,” he said.

But Mr Sharp said there were not yet any patients who were eligible to receive the drug, which has strict criteria for its use.
The drug must be administered in the first five days of symptoms appearing and can only be given to people who have at least one factor that puts them at risk of more severe illness, including pre-existing health conditions.
