Last week the Queensland government admitted that without an injection of federal funding, state hospitals would struggle to cope with a wave of COVID-19 patients.
Queensland recorded four local COVID-19 cases from almost 60,000 test over the past three days with a further four overseas-acquired cases, meaning lockdown remained on hold all weekend.

“If there is any community spread,we will look at those cases, but that[a lockdown] could happen. So the key is to go and get vaccinated,” Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said on Sunday.
Health authorities also believe theymay have found the origin of Brisbane’s aviation cluster.
At last count on Friday,66 per cent of Queensland’s eligible population had received one vaccine dose, while almost 48 per cent were fully vaccinated.
Meanwhile,as of Sunday,3500 people were in hotel quarantine across 19 facilities – about 300 short of the maximum capacity – with an even split between domestic and international arrivals.
