Collingwood nabbed picks 22,46,58 and 79 in this year’s draft along with Gold Coast’s fourth round 2022 pick, with the Suns picking up three future picks from the Pies - a second, third and fourth-rounder.
But while that deal went through, there have been early stumbling blocks in talks for the deals involving Jordan Dawson, Callum Coleman-Jones andJordan Clark.
Adding the extra selections in this year’s draft provides the Magpies further capital to match a bid on Daicos, which is certain to come inside the first handful of selections in the November draft.

It all but ends the risk of the Pies slipping into a points deficit under the father-son bidding system. Collingwood had already committed to selecting Daicos regardless of when a bid comes for the son of club great Peter and younger brother of current Magpie Josh.
However,it would still be useful for the Pies if North Melbourne - who have pick No. 1 - select Jason Horne-Francis,the dynamic South Australian, without bidding on Daicos.
Having extra picks later in the draft is also useful currency to land Kreuger and Lipinski, both of whom have requested trades to the Pies after being starved of opportunities at their respective clubs.
