The daily case numbers come as COVID-19 vaccines become available to children aged five to 11 on Monday.
However,a patchy supply of vaccines for the primary school aged children has meant that many will be unable to be inoculated before school returns.
GPs and practice managers have said they had topush back their first appointments for vaccines for children by a week.
But COVID-19 Taskforce Commander Lieutenant-General John Frewen said anecdotal evidence of widespread delays “doesn’t stack up with the many thousands of bookings ready to go” on Monday.
“Any of the providers who have got specific concerns, they just need to contact the vaccine operation centre,” he told ABC radio on Monday morning.
“We have been working with providers around the clock over recent weeks to ensure that vaccines are in place for the rollout.
“I just encourage people to[have] a little bit of patience,a little bit of persistence and no doubt they’ll be able to get access to vaccines in the weeks ahead.”
NSW Health Deputy Secretary Susan Pearce said there were 63,000 bookings across the state-run vaccination clinics for children aged five to 11.
“We still have bookings available at a number of our clinics and we would encourage everybody who hasn’t made a booking for their child in that age group to make one as soon as possible,” she said.
“Most of our clinics provided nice spaces for children to be vaccinated.”
