Education Minister Grace Grace is a big supporter of the LGBTIQ+ community.
Since issuing the contract on Friday – which includes a list of Christian beliefs in an attached “Declaration of Faith” and states those who do not agree to “fundamental doctrinal precepts” could be excluded from the school – principal Brian Mulheran has refused to speak publicly other than releasing a statement defending the policy.
A visibly emotional Ms Grace, who on Tuesday told reporters she was the parent of a non-binary child, said the Education Department had received complaints and the actions of the college would be examined by the Non-State Schools Accreditation Board. The board meets on Thursday.
“Of course it’s concerning,” she said.
“It’s unacceptable for myself as a parent of a non-binary child and it’s very distressing.

“It’s very distressing, sorry, hang on a minute,it’s actually quite distressing to hear that, that someone like that would be treated the way that school has said it.”
Ms Grace said she was aware of the commission’s interest in the matter and had spoken with Attorney-General Shannon Fentiman.
