The first part of the hub’s staged reopening saw the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) resume programming in its Lyric Theatre last Friday after two weeks of closure, with other venues scheduled to reopen next week.
Yet QPAC’s theatre and dance venue,Playhouse, has been closed indefinitely after it sustained significant water damage through its basement, and all Cultural Centre carparks have remained closed off.
QPAC chief executive John Kotzas said the centre was working towards reopening the venue and had ensured that audiences would not miss out on postponed shows such asFrozen the Musical.

“We are yet to determine a reopening date for the Playhouse, however we’re working in a very focused way to ensure this venue will open as soon as possible,” he said.
“We do hope that in the long run, very few of our patrons will have missed out on seeing the shows they bought tickets to,due to the fact that we’ve been able to transfer tickets to later dates or reschedule performances.”
QPAC’s Concert Hall and Cremorne Theatre are scheduled to reopen next week with premieres ofThe Sopranos opera and a theatre production of Roald Dahl’sThe Twits.
