A picture was posted to the Instagram account of Alex Wheeler on Saturday afternoon and shared by his friend,Matt King. The pair were photographed with the ball and a message that read “The pill is safe,folks. She’ll be back at Swans HQ soon.”
King posted a short message that showed a close-up of the ball. It read:“Update on the pill. She’ll be returned. Big things coming on Tuesday.”
Earlier on Saturday,it emerged the Swans had spoken to the fan who claimed the ball thatLance Franklin kicked for his historic 1000th goal.
The Swans said they were confident the supporter would give the superstar forward the prized Sherrin.
Footage emerged on social media of the lengths a supporter – adorned in a Swans scarf – went to souvenir the ball from Franklin’s famous SCG kick.
The ecstatic fan can be seen cradling the ball,telling onlookers:“I’ve got the pill,I’ve got the pill,I have the pill,I have to get out of here.”
The Swans launched an appeal on Saturday asking for the ball – valued at $200,000 – to be returned to Franklin.
