Four of his kicks were ineffective and one clanger kick went out on the full. He was also caught holding the ball twice,finishing with three free kicks against and just one behind on the scoreboard.
Asked whether Stringer would benefit from continuity in the team,Rutten said:“I hope so”.

Pressed further on what he thought of the 28-year-old’s performance,Rutten said:“He had a poor game tonight and as a senior player for us,we need more from him.”
“Hopefully,he’ll be able to bounce out of that,” he said.
Rutten added that he didn’t believe Stringer required a dedicated training block to get up to match fitness.
“No I don’t think so,” he said. “The last couple of weeks,we had the bye,he would have played last week,but we had the bye. His preparation has been fine.”
