The announcement of Kennett’s departure from the Hawks in December has not been enough to bring unity at the “family club”.
Hawks For Change issued a statement on Friday night slamming the club’s process in nominating vice-president Nankivell,an ally of Kennett,to take over as “flawed, failed and wrong”. Kennett hit back at the group, describing them as a “faceless” organisation.

The political uncertainty off the field threatens to overshadow the on-field progress made by the team under first-season coach Sam Mitchell.
The club announced on Thursday senior lawyer Nankivell had been nominated to take over from Kennett at this year’s AGM in December.
The group is deeply unhappy that Nankivell,as the chair of the nominations committee to find Kennett’s replacement, has been anointed for the job, saying the club had broken a promise it made to members. They are concerned about the implications for “good governance, transparency and accountability”.
“Hawks For Change is disappointed by the decision of the Hawthorn Football Club board to reneg[sic] on commitments made to members,” the group said in a statement.
