During his time in the top job,he oversaw the acquisition of US multinational snacking giant Mondelez’ grocery business in Australia,which included Vegemite and other Kraft brands,as well as theacquisition of Lion Dairy and Drinks,which brought household names Yoplait,Big M and Pura Milk back into Australian hands.
Executive chairman Barry Irwin commended Van Heerwaarden for managing the company through many changes and for his dedication to dealing with challenges and opportunities.
“Paul remains committed to the company and as always is keen to ensure the best outcomes for the business and that the transition to a new CEO is well planned and continues the stable leadership which has always been a key element in the success of the company,” Irwin said.
His replacement Findlay has been with Bega Cheese since December 2019,when he began as chief financial officer.
He held that role for nearly three years before starting as chief operating officer just two months ago.
Findlay’s transition to the top job follows in the footsteps of his predecessor:Van Heerwaarden was also chief operating officer at Bega before starting as CEO in December 2017.
