Emma and Lee Lovell. Emma was killed and Lee injured during the confrontation at their home.

Police said Emma and her husband Lee,43,had been confronted by two people about 11.30pm.

Police said the Lovells were defending their home, with their two teenage daughters inside.

Lee was also allegedly stabbed during the incident.

Two 17-year-old boys were charged by police with offences including murder and attempted murder.

The case was mentioned in Children’s Court on Monday, and the co-accused were not required to appear.

Magistrate Peter Saggers permitted media to enter the court. He said reporting on court processes would not be prejudicial to the accused teenagers.

“It is a matter in which there is significant public interest,” Saggers told the court in ruling on the media application.

“It’s a matter where, today,in my view, the interest of the children would not be prejudiced in reporting in how a matter progresses through the court.

“The public should know how the cases proceed through the court.”

Saggers ordered police prosecutors to provide a partial brief of evidence by late February because “of the significant investigation”.

The cases were adjourned to March.
