At midday on Monday,American Express issued a statement to confirm that the site was up and running again and that the technical difficulties were indeed the result of high demand.
A Ticketek spokesperson said its site was working as expected, and American Express holders could buy presale tickets there, but acknowledged there was a problem with the credit card company’s site.
The American Express pre-sale site has crashed just before Sydney pre-sale tickets for Taylor Swift’s 2024 The Eras tour in Australia tickets went live for purchase. The site went down at about 9:30am,half an hour before tickets went on sale. ’We are sorry. We are currently experiencing technical difficulties. We are working to bring our services back online,” the page reads.
Erin Brissett is among those lucky enough to nab a ticket, via a friend with an American Express card. The 32-year-old marketing manager has seen Swift perform eight times in three countries and is slightly outraged when asked if Swift lives up to the hype.
“1989 was the best concert, that’s the one I saw three times,” she says. “It’s very theatrical,so I think anyone can get something out of it,even if you don’t like her music. She puts on such a show, with dancers and lights, and it’s the full experience. She’s got artwork on the stage and from every angle you’ll get a good show.”
Erin Brissett has been able to get tickets for Taylor Swift in Melbourne.
Brissett is particularly excited about seeing Swift at the MCG,given it could be the largest show she’s ever played due to the size of the venue.
