“Sam Kerr was our flag-bearer at[the King’s] coronation. She is a great Australian,and I certainly hope that she gets a whole lot of game time at 5pm. But for people who said that the Matildas couldn’t win without Sam Kerr,quite clearly that has not been the case,” he said.

NSW Premier Chris Minns has indicated he would back a public holiday if the Matildas go all the way,but Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has been lukewarm on the idea.

The Women’s World Cup final will be held at 8pm on Sunday,August 20.
