“The injury occurred during today’s main training session,with scans confirming a high-grade calf strain,” Carlton said in a statement.
“The injury will be reviewed in the coming weeks to determine return-to-play timelines.”
Weitering,26,is an integral member of Carlton’s line-up,the club last season charging into the finals,before losing their preliminary final to the Brisbane Lions.

With 159 matches across eight seasons under his belt,Weitering is in the prime of his career and won a second club best-and-fairest in 2023.
Blues coach Michael Voss recognised Weitering’s importance after he edged out fellow backman Nic Newman to win the John Nicholls Medal in October.
“Jacob cares deeply about his teammates and his club. To see him recognised tonight with our club’s highest individual honour is terrific for a Carlton person who has shown remarkable growth in all facets of his career over the last 12 months,” Voss said.
